VISTA FLORES – TUNUYAN – VALLE  DE UCO - MENDOZA

The High Altitude climate of Upper Uco Valley has affected this vintage with low yields, 16% less kilos than 2011 vintage. In terms of nationwide figures, the 2012 vintage declined 22% with respect to the previous year.

Main reasons of low yields were spring´s frost, before and after bud burst and a strong Zonda wind during November.

September 23th, 2011 – A “hidden frost” affected buds, reducing the amount of grape clusters.

The traditional Zonda wind (strong and hot wind that descends from the Andes mountain range, reaching 104º F) broke shoots and affected the normal flowering period.

2012´s first months were warm days, with some showers. Since middle March until the end of the harvest (May 4th) average temperature went down, allowing a slow maturation process of skins and seeds, and longer macerations in the winemaking process of our wines with great cellaring potential.

As result our 2012 wines has lot of concentration, moderate alcohol content, smooth tannins and complex flavors. In the nose they are expressive and elegant.

SALTA – VALLE DE CAFAYATE

Product of plateau winter, first three month of summer time were very rainy. However, Torrontes is a very flexible variety, adaptable to extreme conditions. It faced showers with slower maturations, allowing the grapes to ripen completely and homogeneously. We can expect from 2012 Cafayate´s Torrontés, wines with a strong aromatic expression, great natural acidity balanced with its characteristic sweetness. White wines with great aging potential.
