Most notable was Finca el Origen Gran Reserva Malbec 2009, which received 91 points.
Grapes of this recognized wine are from La Esperanza Vineyard, located in Uco Valley, Mendoza, at the foothills of the Andes Range, at 1,200 meters above sea level.
It has an Exceptional purple color. In the nose, the aromas are dominated by red plums, morello cherries, figs, dried apricots and a delicate perfume of violets. All this is harmonized with its oak ageing, which grants it elegant notes of vanilla, chocolate, toast and caramel. This is a full-bodied wine of great structure and concentration. Its excellent balance between acidity and rounded ripe tannins results in a wine with personality. It has a pleasant and lingering finish.
Other highly commended wines were Finca el Origen Reserva Malbec 2010 with 89 points, Menduco Reserva Malbec 2010, with 87 points, and Finca el Origen Malbec Rosé 2010 with 86 points.
The last three wines where awarded with the title of “Best Buy” in each category.
"These 91 points are the result of the effort made by the whole Finca el Origen`s staff in order to create high quality wines. We are passionate about the terroir we manage in Mendoza, we have a great team, inspired and perseverant; and Wine Enthusiast Magazine has appreciated it through our wines”
